Electrical Designer

Working closely with Mechanical Designers and Controls Integrators, we are looking for a career-oriented Electrical Designer to join our team with the following skills and experience:

Technical Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Electrical design with AutoCAD / E3 experience
  • Controls design experience within the industrial automation industry
  • Canadian electrical code knowledge and experience
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Office programs
  • SolidWorks experience, robotics experience – an asset

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Attend project kick-off meetings to obtain information on project specifications, expectations and timelines and to provide electrical design technical knowledge to the project team
  • Develop and prepare electrical designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, diagrams and other information provided by the client or project team members
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics of electrical designs as well as other support drawings using AutoCAD electrical software or E3
  • Prepare design work in accordance with company standards and processes
  • Maintain budget and schedule commitments during the design cycle bringing any issues to the Manager in a pro-active manner
  • Responsible for the research phase of purchasing for electrical parts and contacting vendors and providing price, quality and delivery estimates to Project Manager
  • Provides electrical design technical support to project team members
  • Provides support to the Project Manager in project planning and scheduling, cost estimating and monitoring and quality review process
  • Project documentation: assists with quoting projects, writing specifications, schedules and technical reports
  • Client interfacing to resolve issues quickly and provide on-going dialogue and clear communication

This position would be suited for someone with 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience.

Educational Background:

  • Engineering or Technologist Graduate

Additional Information:

  • Flexible work hours with the occasional "on-call" status may be required
  • Travel is required throughout Eastern Ontario and on occasion to other parts of North America including entry into the USA
  • A valid Driver's License and Canadian Passport or B1/B2 or ESTA work visa are required
  • English language skills are essential
  • French and other languages are assets
